Workability & Regional Occupational Program

Workability

The WorkAbility job board is maintained on a daily basis, providing all students access to local businesses that are currently hiring in the area.  All students who are seeking job search assistance can come to the WorkAbility Office and meet with Mrs. Sonke during break or lunch.

WorkAbility is a California school and community program designed to benefit students, employers and the community by promoting career awareness, preparation and exploration for our transition aged students while in high school.  WorkAbility helps students develop positive interpersonal skills and marketable job skills.  Newport Harbor students grades 9-12 with an active IEP are eligible for WorkAbility services.  Some of the services WorkAbility may offer are:  Career interest, work styles and abilities assessments, career exploration activities such as guest speakers or field trips, work experience, job placement assistance, job readiness skills, application assistance, mock interview and business and community partnerships.  WorkAbility assists teachers with the transition goal of the students and works with the student primarily during their basic skills class.
