Congratulations to David Lee and Mark Schaefer making it to the 3rd Round of CIF Individuals

We would like to first give a big CONGRATULATIONS to David Lee and Mark Schaefer who competed last Thursday at CIF Individuals.  David Lee and Mark Schaefer competed at the Jack Kramer Club on Thursday at the 2016 Boys CIF Individual Sectionals representing NHHS.  Our boys beat a team from Laguna Beach 6-1,6-0 in the first round and then moved on to beat a team from Poly/Pasadena 6-1,6-0 in the second round.  We came up against the #1 seeded team in the third round today from Peninsula and fought hard for a 3-6,4-6 loss.  We are very proud of our boys for advancing to the CIF Individual tournament and for their great run on Thursday.  Lee and Mark represented NHHS with incredible fight and heart today, and they have made NHHS Tennis very proud. Great season boys! GO Sailors!

Congratulations to David Lee and Mark Schaefer our 2016 Sunset League Doubles Finalists

A big CONGRATULATIONS goes out to David Lee and Mark Schaefer who are our 2016 Sunset League Doubles Finalists for the second year in a row! Lee and Mark were the #2 seeded team in the tournament, and they were dominant today in their semifinal win over the #3 seeded team from Fountain Valley 6-1,6-0 and then moved on to put up a valiant fight against the #1 seeded team from Fountain Valley, coming up a little short with a final score of 6-3,0-6,8-10.  This year our Sunset League tournament was filled with some of the highest quality tennis we have seen in years, and we are extremely proud of Lee and Mark for their incredible representation of NHHS Tennis.  We commend Lee and Mark for their huge efforts, their respectable sportsmanship, and their will to compete hard until the very last point of every match.  The competitive toughness seen from our NH Tennis players this tournament was outstanding.  Lee and Mark have earned themselves a spot in the CIF Sectionals Doubles Tournament after earning the Sunset League Finalist position, and we look forward to cheering them on as they continue to compete in a couple of weeks.  We will keep everyone posted on the dates and times of their CIF matches.  Also, congrats to all of our NH players who competed in the Sunset League JV and Varsity Tournament this year: David Sharp, Sam Leaman, Andy Myers, Ace Thayer, Sam Kimme, Damion Moreno, Oscar Tabares, Arden Ozdere, Patrick Folkner, and Oliver Lobdell.  We are very proud of you all.  GO Sailors!

Reese Stalder has great run to CIF Singles Quarterfinals

Congratulations to Reese Stalder who played some incredible tennis on Friday June 6th at Seal Beach Tennis Center.  Reese beat Victor Brown (last years singles finalist) in the Round of 16: 6-4, 6-4… and then moved on to play the #1 seed Michael Genender.  Reese played an outstanding match against Genender in the Quarterfinals and came very close to upsetting the top seed with a final match score of 6-4, 6-7 (4-7), 3-6.  Congratulations on all of your accomplishments this season Reese and for representing NHHS with such class and pride.

End of The Year BBQ/Round Robin Sunday, June 1st

Sunday, June 1st at 2 PM at The Tennis Club, the Sailor Tennis program will be holding their End of the Year BBQ/Round Robin.  We look forward to a fun afternoon of tennis, music, El Ranchito, and serve speed competition, along with lots of Sailor spirit! The afternoon will go from 2-6 PM... see you at The Tennis Club, and GO Sailors!

Reese Stalder Advances to Round of 16 play in CIF Singles Sectionals

Reese Stalder continues his singles CIF run after opening up his first round play with a 6-0, 6-0 win over an opponent from Katella High School.  Reese Stalder moved on to handle Anderson Ju from Cerritos High School in the 3rd round 6-2, 6-0.  Reese improves his record to 50-3 and will compete in the Round of 16 on Friday, June 6th.  Location and Time to be announced.  Great job Reese, and GO Sailors!

Reese Stalder Sunset League Individuals Finalist, and David Schaefer/Phillip Vu Fourth Place Doubles

Reese Stalder made an impressive run at the Sunset League Individuals Tournament making it to the finals of the singles division.  Reese won his first round 8-0 over Kevin Manouchehri from Marina, then beat Andrew Nguyen from Fountain Valley 6-0, 6-0 in the quarterfinal match.  Reese moved on to face #4 seed Max Cancilla from Marina and battled it out for the 2-6, 6-4, 10-8 victory.  In the finals, Reese saw #2 seed Riley Smith from Los Alamitos and competed hard before falling with score of 4-6, 6-7 (5-7).  Reese moves on to CIF Individuals which will begin Thursday, May 29th.  Good luck Reese! Also, on the doubles side, David Schaefer and Phillip Vu upset the #2 seed from Fountain Valley in the quarterfinals 7-5, 3-6, 10-8, before falling in the semifinals to the #3 seed of Braverman/Nguyen from Fountain Valley 1-6, 5-7.  David Schaefer and Phillip Vu finished fourth in the Sunset League Doubles Tournament.  The NHHS Boys Team awaits its draw for CIF Division 1 playoffs, which comes out Monday, May 12th.  First round play will begin Wednesday, May 14th.  Good luck in playoffs Sailor Tennis!

Sailor Clinch outright 3rd place spot in Sunset League with big 10-8 win over Marina

The mens varsity tennis team finished league play at home versus Marina in an high quality and exciting match.  The first time the Sailors saw Marina during league play, Marina was without their #1 singles player and the Sailors prevailed 12-6.  The second time around Marina was with their #1 player and the Sailors needed at least 7 total sets to clinch the 3rd place spot in Sunset League.  The Sailors stepped up and took the overall match with a final score of 10-8.  The Sailors loaded up their doubles, by moving David Lee from singles to partner with senior Phillip Vu and shifting brothers David Schaefer/Mark Schaefer together at the #3 doubles slot.  The strategy worked, as the Sailors grabbed 7 out of 9 total doubles sets for the day.  #1 doubles team of seniors Sean Perrier/Garrett Byers won 2 out of 3 for the Sailors, as did #3 doubles team of David Schaefer/Mark Schaefer, while #2 doubles of David Lee/Phillip Vu swept for the Sailors.  The Sailor were also led by #1 singles player Reese Stalder who swept his singles sets in route to the team victory.  Reese Stalder improved to 40-2 in singles for the season, and #1 doubles of Sean Perrier/Garrett Byers improved to 45-10.  Next up for the Sailors is CIF Division 1 Playoffs.  Keep up the great work Sailor Tennis!

The boys tennis team continues to find success as they take out Sunset League opponents HB and Edison to begin second round of league play.  The boys team defeated Huntington Beach 15-3 at the home of the Sailors on Monday.  The Sailors #1 Singles player Reese Stalder won 2 for 2 in singles, as did #2 singles David Lee and #3 singles Gavin Leonard.  The Sailors #1 doubles team of Sean Perrier/Garrett Byers won 2 for 2 in doubles, as did #2 doubles David Schaefer/Phillip Vu.  The #3 doubles team of Garrett Hall/Peirce Ward won 2 for 3 sets for the day.  Senior Eddie Nolan teamed with Mark Schaefer to earn a 6-1 victory in doubles.  The Sailors moved on to play at Edison on Tuesday and came out with a 13-5 victory.  The Sailors were led by singles sweeps from #1 singles Reese Stalder and #2 singles David Lee.  #1 doubles of Sean Perrier/Garrett Byers won 2 out of their 3 sets, as did #2 doubles David Schaefer/Phillip Vu.  The #3 doubles team of Garrett Hall/Peirce Ward won 1 out of their 2 doubles sets.  The senior duo of Eddie Nolan/Cole Chapin also stepped in to pull of a 6-1 victory in doubles.  The Sailors look to continue their success next week with 2 league opponents (Fountain Valley and Los Alamitos), along with a non-league match versus Laguna Beach.  Keep up the great work Sailor Tennis!

nhhs boys tennis improves to 12-1 after winning sage hill invitational tournament

CONGRATULATIONS to the Boys Tennis squad who competed in the Sage Hill Lightning Invitational tournament on Friday and Saturday and won the tournament.  The Sailors competed against Tesoro, Crean Lutheran and Sage Hill in the tournament. There were 5 singles sets and 4 doubles sets played against each team, and the team who earned 5 or more sets out of the 9 total sets earned the win over the opposing team.  The Sailors beat Tesoro 7-2, we beat Sage Hill 6-3, and we beat Crean Lutheran 5-4.  Two NHHS seniors, also the #1 doubles team, Sean Perrier and Garrett Byers earned doubles MVP honors for the tournament and improved their overall record together to 26-1.  Junior David Schaefer, Sophomore Gavin Leonard, and Freshman David Lee were all named to the All-Tournament team as well.  The Sailors' team record now improves to 12-1, and league play will continue this week: Tuesday at home versus Edison, and Thursday at home versus Fountain Valley.  Another amazing stat for the squad is the Sailors' #1 singles player, Junior Reese Stalder is undefeated in singles play at 19-0, and has only dropped 9 total games in all of his sets combined. Keep up the great work boys tennis... GO Sailors!

Congratulations to the mens varsity tennis team on their 15-3 league opener win over Huntington Beach High School.  The Sailors played at the HB courts and showed up ready to compete.  The Sailors were led by sweeps from #1 singles player Reese Stalder, #3 singles player Gavin Leonard, #1 doubles team Sean Perrier/Garrett Byers, and #2 doubles team David Schaefer/Phillip Vu.  #2 singles player David Lee won 2 out of his 3 sets, and Garrett Hall/Ryan Young brought in a set for the squad as well.  The Sailors improve to 9-1, 1-0 in league and will play Edison at home on Tuesday, April 1st.  Keep up the great work Sailor Tennis!

boys tennis continues to roll with 13-5 win over st. margarets

The NHHS Boys Tennis Team had a great start to the week with a 13-5 win over Tesoro on Monday, and repeating that performance with a 13-5 win over St. Margarets on Tuesday.  The boys took on St. Margarets at their home courts and came out fired up and ready to play.  #1 Singles player Reese Stalder won 2 for 2 and continued on his undefeated run.  #1 doubles of Sean Perrier/Garrett Byers won all 3 of their sets, while #2 doubles of David Schaefer/Mark Schaefer won 2 out of 2 doubles sets for the day.  #3 doubles player Garrett Hall won all 3 of his doubles sets as well, pairing with Phillip Vu for 2 sets and Peirce Ward for 1 set.  #3 singles player Gavin Leonard won 2 out of 3 of his singles sets for the day and showed a strong 4-6 performance against St. Margarets #1 singles player.  The NH team improves to 8-1 and looks forward to opening up league play Thursday, March 27th at Huntington Beach.  Keep up the strong play Sailor Tennis! Boys Tennis Puts up tough fight against crean lutheran and comes back strong against tesoro

The NH boys tennis squad showed their awesome fight against a tough Crean Lutheran team on Friday at the Costa Mesa Tennis Center.  The Sailors were without #1 singles standout Reese Stalder and came close to pulling out the big victory.  The Sailors came up short with an 8-10 loss, however were highlighted by a key sweep from #1 doubles tandem Sean Perrier and Garrett Byers.  The Sailors bounced back strong on Monday with a huge 13-5 win over Tesoro.  The Sailors were led by key sweeps from #1 Singles Reese Stalder, #3 singles David Lee, and #1 doubles Sean Perrier/Garrett Byers.  David Schaefer and Mark Schaefer won 2 out of their 2 sets at #2 doubles and Garrett Hall/Peirce Ward won 2 out of 3 sets at #3 doubles.  The Sailors are now 7-1 and will face St. Margarets at home Tuesday, March 18th at 3 PM.  Keep up the great work Sailor Tennis!

Boys Tennis Improve to 6-0 after 17-1 win over Costa Mesa

The Sailors continue to roll with a 17-1 win over Costa Mesa on Thursday at the NHHS Tennis Courts.  The Sailors were led by play from doubles tandom Garrett Hall/Peirce Ward and Eddie Nolan/Cole Chapin, as both doubles teams won 2 out of their 2 doubles sets, and only dropping 3 games combined.  Freshman Sam Leaman won a set at singles for the Sailors, as did Ryan Young, John Wortmann, Phillip Vu, David Sharp, Nehemya Falcomata, and Zayd Nurani.  The Sailors improve to 6-0 for the preseason and look to take on Crean Lutheran at the Costa Mesa Tennis Center next.  Good luck Sailor Tennis!

Boys Tennis Takes Down Sage Hill 10-8

The Boys Tennis Team displayed their resilience and fight during a memorable battle with Sage Hill at The Tennis Club.  The Sailors went down 2-4 after the first round and came back to tie it up in the second round with a huge comeback by #2 singles player David Lee.  Lee was down 1-4 before storming back for a 7-6 (8-6) win, bringing the Sailors to a 4-2 rotation split.  With the match all tied up, Junior Ryan Young stepped out at #3 singles and beat Sage Hill's #2 player 6-2, a huge win to put the Sailors in good position.  With one match left on the court for the day, it was Gavin Leonard and Phillip Vu at #3 doubles who were left with the final deciding match.  If the Sailors lose the set they lose the match, if the Sailors win the set they clinch the match.  Leonard and Vu were down 1-4 before getting on a hot streak and coming back to win 7-5, giving the Sailors the awesome 10-8 overall match victory.  The Sailors were led by stellar play from #1 singles Reese Stalder who swept, 6-3, 6-0, 6-0, as well as Sean Perrier/ Garrett Byers at #1 doubles bringing home 2 out of 3 doubles sets for the day.  The Sailors improve to 5-0 with the win over Sage Hill.  Great job Sailors!

The Boys Varsity Tennis team continue on a roll as they win the Sage Hill Lightning Invitational tournament over the weekend.  The NHHS squad beat Woodbridge 7-2 and beat Sage Hill 6-3 en route to the tournament title.  Each school played one another in a total of 5 singles pro sets and 4 doubles pro sets.  The Sailors were led in singles play by Reese Stalder, David Lee, Gavin Leonard, David Schaefer, Sean Perrier, and Garrett Byers.  The Sailors improve to 4-0 and are looking forward to another succcessful week on the courts as they get ready to take on Sage Hill, Costa Mesa, and Crean Lutheran.  Keep the great work boy's tennis... nhhs Boys Tennis opens up preseason play with back to back wins

Congratulations to the boys tennis team for beating Sunny Hills 11-7 and following that with another 11-7 win over Mater Dei.  The nhhs boys team begins dual match play with a strong start and will be 2-0 going into The Compass Tournament at The Tennis Club Friday/Saturday March 7th/8th.  The Sailors were led by singles play from #1 Singles player Reese Stalder who has not dropped a singles set, as well as strong singles play from #2 David Lee and #3 Gavin Leonard.  On the doubles side, #1 doubles duo of Sean Perrier/Garrett Byers have not dropped a set, along with #2 doubles of David Schaefer/Mark Schaefer who are undefeated as well.  #3 doubles of Garrett Hall and Peirce Ward got their first Varsity win against Mater Dei on Tuesday beating Mater Dei's #2 team 6-0.  The Sailors will play in the Compass tournament this upcoming weekend competing against Sage Hill and Woodbridge.  Keep up the great work boys tennis.... NHHS Boys tennis opens up preseason play monday, February 3rd at sunny hills

The NHHS boys tennis squad is eager to open up preseason play this week and will have a busy month with preseason matches and tournaments.  The team is looking to it's captains: Sean Perrier, Garrett Byers, and David Schaefer to help lead the squad to a successful season.  The NH team also returns Junior tennis standout Reese Stalder who looks forward to another dominating season.  The team's strength lies within the large senior class, as Sean Perrier, Garrett Byers, Cole Chapin, Phillip Vu, John Wortmann, Garrett Hall, Eddie Nolan, and Peirce Ward all look to finish up their senior year with NH's best season yet.  The freshman class also comes in strong with David Lee, Sam Leaman, Zayd Nurani, David Sharp, and Mark Schaefer.  The Sailors also return key players in Ryan Young, David Schaefer, and Gavin Leonard and are excited to see the addition of transfer Neyamaya Falcomata.  The Sailors will open up at Sunny Hills on Monday, February 3rd and will host Mater Dei Tuesday, February 4th.  They will finish off the week at the Compass Invitational on Friday and Saturday (3/7,3/8) at The Tennis Club, a tournament hosted by Sage Hill with competing teams of Canyon and Woodbridge.  Come out and support your Varsity Sailors as they begin their journey towards an unforgettable season! spring 2014 boys tennis tryouts

Boys Spring Tennis Tryouts will be held Monday-Friday January 6th-10th.  Tryouts will begin for those students who do not have a 7th/8th period at 1:45 PM and will go until 4 PM.  Those students who would like to tryout who have a 7th/8th period will need to come to the courts ready to play at 3:15 PM.  Please bring your tennis racquet, water, and wear proper tennis shoes/workout attire.  The team(s) will be announced on Friday, January 10th.  Please feel free to email Coach Case at kcase@nmusd.us or see her in the Social Hall for any questions you may have.  We look forward to seeing you at the courts! Nhhs Tennis End of Year Family BBQ, Saturday June 8th

Our annual family bbq will be hosted at Park Newport Tennis Courts on Saturday, June 8th from 2-6 PM.  All players and family members are invited to play in our doubles round robin, as well as enjoy live music, food and ping-pong.  It will be a very fun event and we hope to see many of you there! Newport Harbor Mens Tennis Finishes Season against Beckman in CIF Division 1 Playoffs

The Newport Harbor Mens Tennis Team ends their season with a playoff loss to Beckman 5-13.  The Newport Harbor Sailors (13-10, 5-5) end a strong season, finishing with a Sage Hill Lightning Invitational Tournament Title, a third place finish in Sunset League, and a Division 1 Playoff appearance.  The Sailors fought hard against Beckman in their last match home, and were led by singles performances from Reese Stalder and Christian Lee.  Jerry Martin stayed strong in the #3 singles spot, and doubles play from Sean Perrier/Garrett Byers, Michael Eder/David Schaefer, Phillip Vu/Adam Josephson helped the Sailors to stay in the match throughout the afternoon.  Congratulations on a great 2013 season Sailor Mens Tennis!

NEWPORT HARBOR MENS TENNIS FINISHES 3RD IN SUNSET LEAGUE

Congratulations the Newport Harbor Men's Tennis Team for finishing 3rd in Sunset League behind Los Alamitos and Fountain Valley.  The Sailors edged Marina to take the thrid place spot in a very strong 2013 Sunset League.  The Sailors earn a berth into the CIF Division 1 Playoffs with the 3rd place finish and look to compete against Beckman at home to open up playoff play.  GO Sailors!

Reese Stalder finishes 3rd in Sunset League Singles

Congratulations to Reese Stalder on finishing 3rd in Sunset League Singles.  Reese had a great tournament beating Boris Alenikov from Los Alamitos in the quarterfinals 6-1,6-1 before falling to Max Cancillas from Marina 2-6,3-6 in the semifinals.  Reese becomes an alternate for CIF Individuals.  Congratulations Reese, and GO Sailors!

Congratulations to the NHHS competitors in the Sunset League Individual Tournament: Reese Stalder, Christian Lee, Jerry Martin, Sean Perrier, Garrett Byers, Michael Eder, David Schaefer, Phillip Vu, and Adam Josephson.  The men's tennis players above competed hard against the high caliber competition from the Sunset League and did a great job of representing NH Tennis.  Congratulations to the #5 seeds Sean Perrier and Garrett Byers for making it to the quarterfinals and falling in a heartbreaker match against a top seeded team from FV 6-2,3-6,8-10.  #2 seed Reese Stalder also had an impressive performance winning his two rounds on Wednesday, moving into the semifinals at Los Alamitos High School on Thursday.  Good luck to Reese, and great job Sailor Tennis!

Sunset League Individuals Begins Wednesday, May 1st

The Sunset League Individuals tournament will be played on Wednesday at Seal Beach Tennis Center, and Thursday at Los Alamitos High School, both days beginning at 1 PM.  The Sailors look to represent NH with competing singles players Reese Stalder, Christian Lee, and Jerry Martin.  Competing for the Sailors in doubles will be Sean Perrier/Garrett Byers, Michael Eder/David Schaefer, and Adam Josephson/ Phillip Vu.  Reese Stalder is the #1 seed in the singles division, while Sean Perrier/Garrett Byers are the 5th seed in the doubles Division.  Good luck Sailor tennis players!

Men's varsity tennis finishes 3rd in sunset league and moves on to Cif division 1 playoffs

The men's varsity tennis team finished league play Monday, April 29th with a hard fought 8-10 battle versus Los Alamitos.  The Sailors (12-9, 5-5) finish 3rd in league behind Los Alamitos and Fountain Valley, which earns them a guaranteed spot in CIF Division 1 Playoffs.  The Sailors have been led all season with strong singles play from #1 Reese Stalder and #2 Christian Lee... along with strong doubles play from Sean Perrier/ Garrett Byers, Michael Eder/ David Schaefer and Phillip Vu/Adam Josephson.  The CIF draw will come out Monday, May 6th and play will begin Wednesday, May 8th.  The Sailors look to continue their solid tennis play in the weeks to come... Men's Tennis battles it out with marina

The NHHS men's tennis team and Marina had an unforgettable match at the Marina courts on Tuesday.  The Sailors battled it out to the end, tied at 9-9 sets all, and came up slightly short by a one game (79-80) deficit.  Great tennis and great efforts were seen from both teams and the match was exciting as the score portrays.  The Sailors were led by a singles sweep from #1 singles player Reese Stalder and also a sweep from #3 doubles team Michael Eder and David Schaefer.  Sean Perrier and Garrett Byers won 2 out of 3 sets at #1 doubles and Adam Josephson and Phillip Vu  won 1 set at #2 doubles.  The Sailors are now 12-8 overall and 5-4 in league and will play their last league match Monday, April 29th at home versus Los Al.  Following Monday's match, the Sailors look forward to League Individuals and Team Playoff play.  Good luck Sailor Tennis!

MENS TENNIS BEATS HB AND MOVES TO 12-7, 5-3 IN LEAGUE

The men's tennis team had a big day on Monday beating Huntington Beach 13-5 at the Oiler courts.  The Sailors were led by solid singles performances from Reese Stalder and Christian Lee, both whom swept for the Sailors.  Sean Perrier and Garrett Byers also swept their three sets at #1 doubles for the Sailors.  Michael Eder and David Schaefer won two out of three sets at # 2 doubles, and Adam Josephson and Phillip Vu paired to pull out a set together, along with #3 singles player Jerry Martin.  The Sailors will travel to Marina Tuesday April 23rd for another league match showdown.  Good luck Sailor tennis!

The NHHS Men's tennis team pulled off a big 13-5 victory over Marina on Tuesday.  The Sailors looked strong after of a week of no match play, and look ready to finish their second round of league play stronger than they started.  In the Marina match the Sailors were led by #1 singles player Reese Stalder, who only dropped 2 games in his singles sweep.  The #1 doubles team of Sean Perrier and Garrett Byers also pulled off a sweep, while the # 2 doubles team of Michael Eder/David Schaefer, and #3 doubles team of Phillip Vu/Adam Josephson both won 2 out of 3 sets for the Sailors.  The Sailors improve their record to 11-6 overall and 4-1 in league.  Keep up the great work Sailor Tennis!

The varsity men's tennis team bounced back from Tuesday's loss to Fountain Valley with two big wins over Edison and Huntington Beach on Wednesday and Thursday.  The men's team imroves to 10-6, 3-1 in league and is looking strong as they prepare for the remaining league matches.  The Sailors were led by Reese Stalder at #1 singles this week, as Reese earned 8 of 9 sets at the #1 spot, and also saw big performances from Christian Lee and Gavin Leonard at the #2 and #3 singles slots.  Doubles came out strong on Wednesday and Thursday taking a total of 14 out of 18 sets for the two days of competition.  These wins were combined from Sean Perrier, Garrett Byers, Michael Eder, David Schaefer, Adam Josephson, Jerry Martin, and Phillip Vu.  The Sailors will go back to competition in one week's time and look to finish the league off even stronger than the start... Men's Varsity Tennis opens up league play with win over edison

The men's varsity tennis team improved to 8-5 last week with a 13-5 win over Edison.  The Sailors opened up league play at Edison last Thursday, and were led by outstanding play from #1 singles player Reese Stalder who did not drop a game all match.  #2 Singles player Christian Lee only dropped one game the entire day, and doubles tandems of Sean Perrier/Garret Byers, Michael Eder/David Schaefer, and Jerry Martin/ Adam Josephson all won 2 out of 3 sets for the Sailors.  The Sailors play Fountain Valley, Edison and Huntington Beach in the upcoming week and are ready to compete hard against the strong Sunset League compeititon... The NH Sailors improve to 7-5 after defeating Sage Hill 15-3 at home on Monday, March 18th.  The Sailors were led by sweeps from Reese Stalder at #1 singles, Christian Lee at #2 singles, Gavin Leonard at #3 singles, and from Sean Perrier and Garret Byers at #1 doubles.  The Sailors finished a very competitve and strong preseason run, and are prepared and eager to open up league play on Thursday, March 21st at Edison.  Good luck Sailor Tennis!

The Sailors move to 6-3 after defeating Tesoro 11-7 at home on Monday.  Reese Stalder swept at #1 singles, Christian Lee swept at #2 singles, and Sean Perrier and Garret Byers won 2 out of 3 sets at #1 doubles.  Gavin Leonard added a set at #3 singles, as did Phillip Vu and David Schaefer at #2 doubles and Michael Eder and Adam Josephson at #3 doubles.  The NH team looks to face Woodbridge at home on Wednesday, and Mira Costa at home on Thursday.  Great team effot NH! 2013 Men's Varsity Team Improves to 5-3 with 16-2 win over Laguna Beach

The Men's Varsity Team demonstrated great effort and play against Laguna Beach to earn a 16-2 victory.  Reese Stalder won two out of his two singles sets at the #1 spot, Christian Lee won three out of three of his singles sets at the #2 spot, and Gavin Leonard did a great job winning two out of three singles sets at the #3 singles spot.  Sean Perrier and Garret Byers continued their 8 set win streak at # 1 doubles winning 2 out of 2 sets at the #1 spot.  David Schaefer and Phillip Vu pulled of their first sweep at the #2 doubles spot, and Michael Eder and Adam Josephson continue to improve and come up big at #3 doubles winning two out of two sets at the #3 spot.  Ryan Young and Jerry Martin had a huge comeback win in doubles, defeating Laguna's #2 team in a tiebreaker, and John Wortmann had a strong 6-4 win over Laguna's #3 singles player.  Seth Aguirre and Cole Chapin fought hard against Laguna's #3 doubles team, and showed off great doubles improvements.  An all-around great day for the NH squad... congratulations men...keep it going! Congratulations Men's Tennis: Sage Hill Invitational Champions!

The men's varsity tennis team competed in the Sage Hill Lightning Invitational over the weekend and defeated four competing schools in route to a repeat tournament Championship.  The team fought hard on Friday and Saturday to beat Oaks Christian 6-3, Tesoro 6-3, Sage HIll I 7-2, and Sage Hill II 9-0.  It was a great tournament with solid competition, and an outstanding representation for NHHS Tennis! Congratulations to all the members of the Varsity team for their contributions all weekend long, and to the All-tournament team selections: Michael Eder, Adam Josephson, and Sean Perrier.  And a big Congratulations to the tournament double MVP's: Reese Stalder and Christian Lee, and tournament singles MVP: Christian Lee.  A great start to the season ahead... NHHS BOYS TENNIS

Coach Fletcher Olson, (20th Career Season)  Coach Olson has been coaching with NHHS for 22 seasons. She began working as an assistant with Coach Charlie "Tex" Bleiker.  Coach Olson teaches in The Career Tech Education Department at NHHS. Several Newport Harbor graduates have gone on to play intercollegiate tennis from the NHHS program and then returned to coach at NHHS including Coach Kristen Case, (University of California, Berkeley, Coach Jeff Thomsen, (University of Oregon) and Coach Brooke Taylor, (University of Arizona).  

Coach Kristen Case (5th Career Season) Coach Case is an alumna of Newport Harbor High School and a graduate of the University of California, Berkley.  Kristen is also an experienced Tennis Pro with a very impressive College tennis career as a “Bear".  Since coming to NHHS, our Sailor teams have continued the tradition of victory with honor.  The girls team has been victorious, winning consecutive Sunset League Championships and have advanced to the CIF Regional Individual and CIF Team Division Championships.

Congrats to the boys varsity tennis squad who are currently #8 in OC and #2 in Sunset League.  The squad posts a 13-4 overall record and a 5-2 league record.  Freshman Max McKennon has been named both OC Register and Daily Pilot Athlete of the Week, and Max along with seniors David Lee and Mark Schaefer will be competing in the prestigious Ojai tournament April 27-29th.  There are 3 league matches left to go and the Sailors are ready to finish the season strong… Good luck boys! Varsity squad defeats Tarbut

Congrats to the varsity squad on their 12-6 win over Tarbut on Thursday.  David Lee did not drop a game in singles action, and Mark Schaefer and Sam Leaman won all 3 doubles sets at love.  Andy Myers swept all 3 of his sets on the singles side, and David Sharp/Cory Smith won all 3 of their doubles sets on the doubles side.  Doubles duo of Alex Ramirez and Ace Thayer also brought in a set for the Sailors, and Jarrod Page was also successful in singles defeating Crean Lutheran's #3 singles player.  Great job boys, and best of luck on Monday against San Juan Hills! Congrats to both the varsity and JV tennis teams in their wins over Crean Lutheran on Tuesday.  The varsity squad battled it out for a 9-9 (81-78) win, and the JV squad came out with the big 10-8 victory.  The varsity squad was led by singles play from Andy Myers, Nick Nataupsky, and Alex Ramirez.  The doubles lines of David Lee/David Sharp and Sam Leaman/Mark Schaefer also stepped up for the Sailors.  Great job boys and good luck in your next match!

The varsity squad finished off the week strong with a 13-5 win over St. Margarets.  The boys were led by David Lee at #1 singles who did not drop a game for the day, and also were led by strong singles play from #3 singles Andy Myers who only dropped one game for the day.  Juniors Mark Schaefer and Sam Leaman swept in doubles, David Sharp and Ace Thayer won 2 out of 3 of their doubles sets, and Michael Royak, Julian Hernandez, Jarrod Page, and Alex Ramirez all won a doubles set for the Sailors.  Another huge team effort from the Sailor varsity squad… keep up the great work boys!

Varsity tennis has another 9-9 battle against Mater Dei

The Sailors found themselves in another battle on Tuesday against Mater Dei, where they again went down to the wire with another 9-9 finish.  The match was tied up at 3-3 after the first round, 6-6 after the second round, and 9-9 after the third round, and the Sailors lost the game count margin with the final count of 67-60.  The Sailors will look to gain the edge on Wednesday as they face St. Margarets at home at 3 PM.  Good luck Sailor Tennis!

Varsity Tennis battles to a 9-9 match with Sunny Hills

The varsity boys squad were led by sweeps from Sam Leaman, Mark Schaefer, David Lee, and Andy Myers as the boys traveled to Sunny Hills on Monday for their opening dual match.  The match was 3-3 after the first round, 6-6 after the second round, and 9-9 after the 3rd round.  The Sailors came up short on games, as Sunny Hills took the game margin with the final count of 72-58.  The boys look to come back strong against Mater Dei on Tuesday... good luck Sailors!

2016 Boys Tennis Tryouts January 4th-8th

Our 2016 boys tennis tryouts will be held Monday-Friday January 4th-8th from 1:45- 4 PM at the NHHS Tennis Courts.  Anyone interested in trying out please come prepared in your tennis shoes with bottle of water and tennis racquet.  We look forward to seeing you there… GO Sailors! Senior Reese Stalder finishes as CIF Southern Section Singles Finalist

Congratulations to Reese Stalder as he finishes out his senior season with an overall record of 68-1, Sunset League Singles Champion,  and CIF Southern Section Singles Finalist. Reese has also been chosen as the Orange County Register's Boys Tennis Player of the Year, and is a 2015 National All-American.  Reese defeated Ryan Marker from Palm Desert in the quarterfinals of the CIF Tournament 7-6,7-6, and moved on to beat Eddie Gutierrez from Fullerton 6-3, 6-4 in the semifinals and fell in the finals to Brandon Holt from Palos Verdes 3-6, 7-6, 1-6.  The NHHS Tennis program is very proud of our 4-year boys tennis MVP, and congratulations on an outstanding senior season Reese… best of luck at TCU… Go Sailors, and Go Frogs!

Sailors' Team Season comes to an end after 7-11 loss to beverly hills

The Sailors finished out the their 2015 run playing some of their best tennis of the season.  The Sailors fell a little short in their 7-11 loss to Beverly Hills in the second round Division 1 match, and the team finished with an impressive overall record of 22-4 for the season.  Senior Sailor Reese Stalder swept his singles matches to remain undefeated for the entire season at 63-0.  Singles player Gavin Leonard stepped up and won 2 out of 3 singles matches, while doubles duo of David Lee/Mark Schaefer also stepped up and won 2 out of 3 doubles matches.  Reese Stalder and David Lee/Mark Schaefer will move on to compete in CIF Individuals beginning May 28th.  Congratulations on an outstanding 2015 season Sailor Tennis, and best of luck in CIF Individuals!

VARSITY SAILORS OPEN UP ROUND 1 CIF WITH WIN OVER CALABASAS

The Varsity squad played host to Calabasas on Wednesday, and earned an 11-7 victory in the first round of CIF Division 1 Playoffs.  The Sailors were led by singles play from Reese Stalder who won 6-4, 6-2, and 6-0, and who also improved his record to 60-0 for the season.  The Sailors doubles duo of David Lee/Mark Schaefer won all of their sets at #2 doubles, and the doubles teams of David Schaefer/Andy Myers, and Ryan Young/Sam Leaman both won 2 out of 3 sets.  #3 singles player Gavin Leonard had a big 6-1 win over Calabasas' #3 singles player in the opening round of play.  The Sailors improve to 22-3, and will play host to Beverly Hills for second round CIF action.  Good luck Sailor Tennis!

Sailors Defeat Fountain Valley 9-9 (83-76)

Congratulations to the varsity tennis team on closing out league play with a win over Fountain Valley.  The Sailors improve to 21-3 overall with the win and 8-2 in league, winning the Sunset League 2nd place position outright.  The Sailors battled it out agains the Barons and won by a game count at the end.  The Sailors were led by a singles sweep from #1 singles player Reese Stalder who did not drop a game all afternoon.  He remains undefeated this season in singles play at 53-0.  The Sailors doubles teams of David Lee/ Mark Schaefer and David Schaefer/Andy Myers both won 2 out of 3 doubles sets, and Gavin Leonard and Ryan Young/Sam Leaman also brought in a set for the Sailors.  David Sharp was also huge in bringing in games for the Sailors as he battled his way to 2, 6-7 sets.  The Sailors will begin CIF Team play next week.  Best of luck in playoffs Sailor Tennis!

Sailors Defeat Edison 15-3

The varsity tennis squad improves to 20-3 overall and 7-2 in league play after their victory over Edison yesterday.  #1 singles player Reese Stalder remains undefeated in singles at 50-0, and the team clinches second place in Sunset League after the win. #2 doubles duo of David Lee/Mark Schaefer did not drop a game in their 3-set sweep, and #3 singles Gavin Leonard only dropped 1 game in his 3-set sweep.  #3 doubles duo of David Schaefer/Andy Myers also swept for the Sailors, while #1 doubles of Ryan Young/Sam Leaman won 2 out of 3 doubles sets, and #2 singles David Sharp won 1 out of 3 singles sets.  The Sailors will play host to Fountain Valley on Monday at 2:30 PM in their final league match of the season.  Good luck Sailor Tennis!

The Sailors improve to 19-3 and 6-2 in league with their 12-6 win over Huntington Beach on Tuesday.  The Sailors #1 singles player Reese Stalder did not drop a game all afternoon and improved his singles record to 47-0 for the season thus far.  #3 doubles team of David Schaefer/Andy Myers won all 3 of their sets against the Oilers and #2 singles Gavin Leonard, #2 doubles David Lee/Mark Schaefer and #1 doubles Sam Leaman, David Sharp, all won 2 out of 3 sets for the Sailors.  The Sailors will play host to Edison on Thursday.  Keep up the great work Sailor Tennis!

Sailor Tennis defeats marina 10-8

The Varsity boys tennis team battled hard against the top team in Sunset League, Los Al, on Monday and put up a good fight for a final 5-13 score.  The Sailors bounced right back on Tuesday at Marina to earn a solid 10-8 victory.  The Sailors battled it out for 3 tough rounds, winning 3 of 5 tiebreakers to get the win. Sailors were led by #1 singles player Reese Stalder who won his sets 6-2, 6-4, 6-1 and #2 doubles David Lee/Mark Schaefer who won their sets 6-4, 7-6, 7-6.  Reese Stalder is now 44-0 in singles play this season.  The Sailors' #3 doubles team of David Schaefer/Andy Myers had a big day as well, coming up with a pair of 6-1 wins, and then falling in a tight set 6-7.  #1 doubles of Ryan Young/Sam Leaman had a big 7-6 win for the Sailors, and Gavin Leonard had a big 6-3 win for the Sailors as well.  The Sailors are now 18-3 overall, 5-2 in league play.  Great job Sailor Tennis!

Sailors improve to 17-2, 4-1 in Sunset League with 10-8 win over fountain valley

The Sailors showed off their great resilience in a big 10-8 victory over Fountain Valley.  The Sailors went 3-3 with Fountain Valley after the 1st round, then 7-6 after the second round, and took 3 more sets in the final round to earn the 10-8 win.  #1 singles player Reese Stalder swept with scores 6-0, 6-0, 7-5 and #2 singles player David Sharp, and #3 singles player Gavin Leonard both won a set for the Sailors.  #2 doubles team of David Lee/Mark Schaefer and #3 doubles team of David Schaefer/Andy Myers both won 2 out of 3 doubles sets, while #1 doubles duo of Ryan Young/Sam Leaman won 1 set for the Sailors.  The squad improves to 17-2 and 4-1 in league play, and will begin the second round of league play next week.  Stay strong Sailor Tennis!

Sailors defeat Edison

The boys varsity squad came back from Spring Break and jumped right back into competition and traveled to Edison for their first league match-up.  The Sailors came out on top defeating Edison 16-2.  #1 singles player Reese Stalder and #3 singles player Gavin Leonard won all their sets for the Sailors, as did doubles teams of Ryan Young/Sam Leaman, David Lee/Mark Schaefer, and Andy Myers/David Schaefer.  #2 singles player David Sharp brought in a singles win for the Sailors as well.  The Sailors improve to 16-2 overall and 3-1 in league.  Keep up the great work Sailor Tennis!

Sailors defeat Marina 11-7

The Sailors had a fun day at the home courts on Tuesday for 'Game of the Week' at NHHS. The Sailors battled hard to defeat Marina 11-7 and had a huge day from Sailor doubles.  The Sailors doubles pairs combined to win 8 out of 9 doubles sets.  David Schaefer and Andy Myers swept their matches, as did David Lee and Mark Schaefer.  Doubles duo of Ryan Young/Sam Leaman won 2 out of 3 of their doubles sets.  #1 singles player Reese Stalder swept for the Sailors with impressive scores of 6-1, 6-0, 6-0 to improve his record to 29-0.  The Sailors squad is now 14-3 overall and 1-1 in league play, and up next will be Huntington Beach at home on Thursday.  Great job Sailor Tennis!

The Sailors had a big day on Monday as they traveled to Sunny Hills and dominated the competition with a 17-1 final score.  David Sharp won 2 out of 3 sets in singles, and Gavin Leonard won all 3 of sets in singles for the Sailors.  Reese Stalder at #1 singles won all 3 of sets, improving his overall record to 26-0.  The Sailor doubles teams of David Schaefer/Andy Myers, David Lee/ Mark Schaefer, and Ryan Young/Sam Leaman, all swept on the doubles side.  The Sailor squad improves to 13-2 overall and will face Marina at home tomorrow.  Keep up the great work Sailor Tennis!

The Sailors fought hard against a strong Los Al team at the Los Al courts on Thursday.  The Sailors battled for a 6-12 final score, and the Sailors #1 singles player Reese Stalder had a huge singles sweep, defeating a very strong Los Al singles line-up with scores of 6-2, 6-3, 6-2.  David Lee and Mark Schaefer won 2 out of 3 doubles sets and David Schaefer and Andy Myers won a singles set for the Sailors as well. Sailors bounce back with 13-5 win over tesoro

The Sailor varsity squad bounced back from Wednesday's match to defeat Tesoro 13-5 at the NH courts.  #1 singles player Reese Stalder won 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, and Gavin Leonard won 2 out of 3 singles sets for the Sailors.  On the doubles side, the Sailors won 8 out of 9 doubles sets and were led by #1 doubles duo of David Schaefer/Andy Myers.  The Sailors improve to 11-1 and will open up Sunset League play at Los Al next Thursday.  GO Sailor Tennis!

Sailors fall in close battle to CDM

The Sailors experienced their first loss of the season in a hard fought match vs. CDM. The Sailors came up short with a final score of 7-11.  The Sailors stayed competitive with CDM throughout the entire match and high quality tennis was seen on all courts.  #1 singles player Reese Stalder won all 3 of his singles sets, beating CDM #1's player in an intense 7-5 match en route to the sweep, and David Lee won 2 out of 3 singles sets for the Sailors.  #1 doubles of David Scheafer/Andy Myers won 1 doubles set and came close to pulling in another doubles win with a 6-7 (4-7) loss to CDM's #1 doubles team.  The Sailors are 10-1 after this match, and will face Tesoro tomorrow at the NH Courts.  Great job Sailor Tennis!

Sailors Defeat Crean Lutheran 12-6

The Sailors continue to show off some strong tennis throughout preseason play as the defeat Crean Lutheran 12-6 at home.  The Sailors were led by #1 singles player Reese Stalder who remains undefeated in singles play and who lost only 2 total games in action versus Crean.  #2 singles player David Lee and #3 singles player Gavin Leonard both won 2 out of 3 singles sets for the Sailors.  On the doubles side, #1 doubles duo of David Schaefer/Andy Myers and #3 doubles duo of Ryan Young/Mark Schaefer both won 2 out of 3 sets for the Sailors, while #3 doubles duo of Sam Leaman/David Sharp brought in one set for the Sailors.  The varsity squad is now 6-0 in dual match play and 10-0 overall,  and will face CDM on Wednesday.  Good luck Sailor Tennis!

The Sailors continue to roll through preseason play as they take out St. Margarets 11-7.  The Sailors were led by singles play from David Lee, who did not drop a game in his 6-0, 6-0, 6-0 victories.  Gavin Leonard won twice at #3 singles and Nehemyah Falcomata won 1 set at #1 singles for the Sailors.  The doubles teams of David Schaefer/Andy Myers and David Sharp/Sam Leaman both won 2 out of 3 sets, and the doubles team of Ryan Young/Mark Schaefer won 1 set for the Sailors.  The Sailors remain undefeated in preseason play and up next is Crean Lutheran.  Good luck Sailor Tennis!

The boys varsity squad traveled to San Juan Hills on Thursday and came out with a very strong 13-5 win.  Reese Stalder won twice at #1 singles before being subbed out, Gavin Leonard won 1 set at #3 singles, and Nehemyah Falcomata also won a singles set for the Sailors.  The Sailor doubles teams of David Schaefer/Andy Myers, David Lee/Mark Schaefer, Sam Leaman/Ryan Young stepped up big and won all 9 sets of doubles.  The Sailors will face St. Margarets next.  Keep up the great work Sailor Tennis!

The varsity Sailors traveled to Estancia and played some great tennis in their 18-0 victory.  The Sailors singles players of David Lee, Gavin Leonard, and Nehemyah Falcomata won all 9 singles sets for the Sailors, and the Sailors doubles teams of David Schaefer/Andy Myers, Ryan Young/Mark Schaefer, and Sam Leaman/David Sharp won all 9 doubles sets as well.  Up next for the Sailors is San Juan Hills on Thursday.  GO Sailors!

Sailors defeat Laguna Beach 12-6

The Sailors continue their success as they defeat Laguna Beach 12-6.  The Sailors did not drop a set in singles, led by Reese Stalder, David Lee, Gavin Leonard and David Sharp.  David Schaefer and Andy Myers won 2 out of 3 sets at # 1 doubles, and Sam Leaman and Nehemyah Falcomata won 1 out of 3 sets at #3 doubles.  The Sailors will face Estancia, San Juan Hills and St. Margarets next week. Sailors defeat Mater Dei 18-0

The Sailor boys squad began dual match play on Tuesday, March 3rd at home with an 18-0 win over Mater Dei.  All of the Sailor varsity squad contributed to the win. Congratulations to Reese Stalder, David Schaefer, Ryan Young, David Lee, Gavin Leonard, Andy Myers, Mark Schaefer, Nehemyah Falcomata, Sam Leaman, and David Sharp on the great team win and good luck against Laguna Beach on Thursday! Sailors Win Sage Hill Lightning Tournament

The 2015 boys varsity squad opened up season at the Sage Hill Lightning Invitational and earned the tournament championship title after beating St. Ignatius 5-4, Sage Hill 5-4, Canyon 6-3, and St. Margarets 7-2.  Reese Stalder was named the tournament singles MVP, and the tournament doubles MVP, alongside sophomore partner David Lee.  Seniors Captains Ryan Young and David Schaefer, along with junior Gavin Leonard, were named to the All-Tournament Team chosen by all of the Coaches at the tournament.  All of the Sailor varsity members contributed to the big team win, and the Sailors were excited to open up their season with the tournament title.  Go Sailors!

Sailor Mens Tennis end season with tough fight in CIF vs. Harvard Westlake

The Sailor tennis squad finished their season against the #3 seed Harvard Westlake team in CIF Division 1 playoffs.  #1 singles standout Reese Stalder went 2 for 2 on the day and the entire team did a tremendous job competing against their top seeded opponent.  The Sailor squad finishes with an overall record of 13-6 and claiming 2 preseason tournament titles.  Great 2014 season Men's Tennis!

The Sunset League Individual tournament will begin on Wednesday, May 7th at Seal Beach Tennis Center, play beginning at 1 PM.  Both the singles and doubles draws showcase top-notch competitors from the Sunset League.  NH #1 singles player, junior Reese Stalder is the #1 seed in the singles draw, and #1 doubles team of seniors Sean Perrier/Garrett Byers are the #4 seed in the doubles draw, while #2 doubles team of Phillip Vu/ David Schaefer are the #7 seeds.  Also competing in singles will be freshman David Lee and sophomore Gavin Leonard.  Also competing in the doubles draw for the sailors are seniors Garrett Hall and Peirce Ward.  Those players whom advance past the first 2 rounds of play on Wednesday will move on to play in the semifinals on Thursday at Marina High School.  Good luck Sailor players!

mens tennis has big week against fountain valley, laguna beach, and los alamitos

The mens varsity tennis team had a big week against 2 league opponents and one non-league opponent.  The Sailors fought hard against fountain valley, coming up short with a 6-12 score.  The next day, the Sailors bounced back with a 14-4 win over Laguna Beach at home.  The following day the Sailors came extremely close to upsetting top ranked Los Alamitos at Los Al high school with a 8-10 final score.  After the big week, the Sailors stand at 12-5 overall and 5-4 in league.  The Sailors were led throughout the week by outstanding singles play from junior Reese Stalder, freshman David Lee, sophomore Gavin Leonard, as well as outstanding doubles play from Sean Perrier/Garrett Byers, Phillip Vu/David Schaefer, and Garrett Hall/Peirce Ward.  The Sailors have their last league match at home Monday May 5th versus Marina to clinch the 3rd place spot in Sunset League and advance to CIF Division 1 Playoffs.  Good luck Sailor Tennis!

The boys Varsity tennis team battled for a strong 12-6 win over Marina on Thursday at Marina High School.  The Sailor took 8 out of 9 doubles sets for the day with big sweeps from #1 doubles Sean Perrier/Garrett Byers and #3 doubles Reese Stalder/Garrett Hall.  #2 doubles of David Schaefer/Phillip Vu won 2 out of 3 doubles sets.  #3 singles player Gavin Leonard won 2 out of his 3 singles sets, while singles players David Lee and Ryan Young both one 1 singles set for the day.  The Sailors bounced back for the win over Marina after a 12-6 loss to Fountain Valley and 3-15 loss to Los Alamitos.  The big win over Marina put the Sailors at a 3-2 record after the first round of league play and puts them currently at 3rd place of the Sunset League.  The Sailors (14-3, 3-2) will get a week off of matches to practice next week and will look to come out strong against Huntington Beach at home on Monday April 21st.  Keep up the great work Sailor Tennis!

Congratulations to the boys varsity tennis team on their second league win, defeating Edison 15-3.  The squad was led by singles sweeps from Reese Stalder at #1 singles and Gavin Leonard at #3 singles.  Reese Stalder improves his record to 22-0, still only dropping 9 total games in all of his contests.  The Sailors were also led by doubles sweeps from #1 doubles Sean Perrier/Garrett Byers and #2 doubles David Schaefer/ Phillip Vu.  The Sailors will look ahead to face Fountain Valley at home, Thursday April 3rd at 3 PM. Keep up the great work Sailor Tennis!

"The Code" USTA principles and guideline

The highest type of sportsmanship is expected from every player!  an understanding of and a commitment to the CIF Victory with Honor 6 Pillars of Character.   In addition, the USTA (United States Tennis Association) respects a code of conduct known as "The Code" whose principles and guideline shall apply in any match conducted without officials.

Honor your commitment to play.

Play must be continuous

Intentional distractions that interfere with your opponent's concentration or effort to play the ball are against the rules.

Spectators, including parents, friends, and outside  coaches are welcome to watch and enjoy the matches.  Their role, however is clearly restricted to that of passive observer with no involvement of any kind during the match.

Players are expected to put forth a full and honest effort regardless of the score or expected outcome.

Players are expected to maintain full control over their emotions and the resulting behavior throughout the match.
